The Christopher Salmon
Poetry Extravaganza
2018 WINNERS

List of the winners for Chris Salmon Poetry Extravaganza 2018

Many Congratulations to all this years winners (listed below) who were invited to attend a poetry workshop with the wonderful and inspiring local poet John Hughes. They were also invited along with their guests to attend an awards evening which was held on Friday 16th March at Birkenhead Town Hall, the evening was hosted by and included performances by John Hughes.

Certificates and cash prizes were awarded to all winners in each age category and The Mayor of Wirral ,Councillor Ann McLachlan and her consort Mr Bill McLachlan were attendance. An anthology containing all the winning poems is now available for sale for £3  from either Wirral Libraries or by contacting the Chris Salmon Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of the anthology will go towards funding the 2019 competition, which will be launched in September 2018. The Theme for the 2019 Poetry Extravaganza will be "Heroes".

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the winners at both events and thank everyone who took part this year, as we received nearly 1100 entries all of outstanding quality which made the judging and selecting the winners a very difficult task for our esteemed judges. We look forward to receiving your entries for 2019 later this year.
