Poetry Awards Evening Photos 2018

Here is the excellent winning poem by Penny Erap and a few pictures from the Awards Evening and Poetry Workshop.

Defeated

Countless filing cabinets,
Regiments of grand metal soldiers,
Responsible for collecting my memories.
Millions of paper documents,
They recall each and every one.
All protected,
Safe in a steel vault.
It is on lockdown,
The password, forgotten, unknown.
I am desperate,
Desperate to unlock my memories.
But I can’t, I never will.
The vault door, welded shut in my brain.
I pull at the door with all my might.
Another failed attempt.
My nemesis has struck once more.
Everything is lost.Lost forever.
I have been defeated.
Defeated by dementia…
